Winter Term |
Talent Development WorkshopDeveloped by professor of Violin, Vasile Beluska of Bowling Green State University, Winter Term (the first two weeks of the Spring semester) gives students the opportunity to develop the talent that all students have within themselves. Music students from all over the Midwest come to this workshop each year to learn the concepts and techniques that may be used in any field - music, math, sports, etc. "Vasile Beluska has developed a teaching technique he calls simply “Talent Development”, which appeals " first to the human element in the student, recognizing that he or she is not a machine and doesn't learn as a computer does. Participants from the younger students to the older and experienced professionals will gather for concentrated, “total immersion” in the art and science of talent development and teaching and playing an instrument." |
At Crescendo College we believe that students can continue to gain more and more from this experience, which is why we require all of our students to attend this workshop 3 times (1st, 3rd, and 5th year). As a person crescendos into a cognitively, emotionally, and practically competent individual, they may be able to take new ideas and pieces them together in new ways.
Because of the growth a student has in critical thinking during college, students' critical thinking during the 1st, 3rd, and 5th year may differ, thus helping students gain knew things from the Winter term workshop. The Talent development workshop includes lectures, supervised practice (supervised by Dr. Beluska himself), workshops, master class, and a concert at the end of winter term to showcase what the students have learned. Students are required to turn in a critical reflection on what they have learned to their private instructor at the end of January. |
