Campus Life |
Campus life at Crescendo College is as varied and engaging as the remarkable students who go here. We’re musicians, artists, activists, researchers, and adventurers, and Crescendo offers numerous programs to help students get engaged in and outside of campus.
Here at Crescendo we understand that learning will be greatest when the learning environment encourages educators to focus less on what they do and more on what the student does: how motivated the student is and how much time and energy the student devotes to the learning process. |
Residence LifeCrescendo has four large live-in residence halls for all first, second, and third year students (there is a 2-year live-in requirement). The 4 halls are named after Vivaldi's Four Season: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
Students are Crescendo take a strong ownership over where they live and have a strong sense of community and social support. Throughout the year there are "Battle of the Buildings" competitions between the different residence hall such as sports competitions, charity fundraisers. Having these friendly competitions increases sense of community, adjustment, perceived social support, and satisfaction with school, all which correlate with positive academic and social outcomes (and also help with retention All of our residence hall are handicap accessible rooms, community rooms, and ample practice space. |

Giving BackAt Crescendo we believe in giving back to our community and continuously finding ways to serve others. 100% of our students are licensed to teach books 1 and 2 of the Suzuki pedagogy (in all instrument types) through the Crescendo transition coruses, and we highly encourage our students go into the city of Chicago (and the surrounding area) to work with youth and inspire them to become musicians.
Our faculty and large ensembles regularly perform with the Chicago Symphony or in the Chicago area (giving one large, free concert for all Chicago youth to instill a love for music early). Crescendo is lucky to have such a large surrounding community that offers ample opportunities to teach, perform, and give back in other ways of service (many of our students create their own organizations and get together to do just that. |
